Background
Influenza nucleoprotein (NP) binds to viral RNA, and these ribonucleoprotein complexes play a major role in viral transcription and replication. NP is highly conserved among influenza B virus strains, making NP a very suitable control antigen to be used in influenza B immunological tests.
