Background
Newcastle disease is a devastating disease in poultry caused by virulent Newcastle disease virus (NDV), a paramyxovirus endemic in many regions of the world despite intensive vaccination. Newcastle disease virus (NDV), which belongs to the genus Avaluvirus (Paramyxovirinae subfamily, Paramyxoviridae family), can cause acute, highly contagious Newcastle disease (ND). The Hemagglutinin-Neuraminidase (HN) spike protein as a multifunctional protein, the HN protein of Newcastle disease virus (NDV) is involved in various biological functions. It plays a pivotal role in the pathogenesis, immunogenicity and attachment of the virus. Most NDV vaccine strains such as La Sota and B1 are thermolabile, and only a few strains are thermostable.
